A cover of a podcast about chronic pain as you’ve never heard it before, episode 4: dealing with pain on the daily

About This Resource

In this episode of the Chronic Pain Like You’ve Never Heard it Before podcast series, Sophia (age 18), Bridget (age 16), and Brooke (age 23) talk about strategies for managing pain. They share their unique experiences with active coping, their preferred strategies and tools (big and small!), and how their use of different strategies has changed over time and across various contexts of life.

This episode is part of an incredible podcast series produced by the Comfort Ability Program Peer Advisory Board. In this series, you get to know some teens and young adults who have bounced back from chronic pain. Has it been easy for them? Definitely not. Have they learned a lot through their journey? For sure. This podcast includes practical tips and skills for managing pediatric pain, but also a big dose of hope and encouragement for those who are struggling. The Peer Advisory Board made this podcast because this is all the stuff they wished they knew when they were first diagnosed with chronic pain. Tune in to hear them bust myths about pain, explain how they got through school, talk honestly about how they managed pain on the daily, swap coping stories, and find strength in themselves and each other. Produced by the Comfort Ability Program, Boston Children’s Hospital.

Who Is This For

Young adults with chronic pain, their parents and healthcare providers.

A Note About Keeping This Free

Good pain care should be a right, not a privilege.

We’ve spent our careers treating pain and medical anxiety, and we know that comfort and control come from putting the power where it belongs: in your hands. Everything here is free and open source by design. No parent should have to pay to learn how to get their child through a vaccine or a bad headache. No provider should have to hunt for what they need to do their job well. Hundreds of thousands of people have used Meg tools, and not one of them has ever been asked to pay.

But free still costs something.

We rely on the generosity of people like you to keep it that way. It takes about 1 in 30 of us, each giving $15 a month, to keep these tools available for free. If they helped you and you’re able, $15 a month keeps these resources available the next time you or another family need them.

Thanks for being here. Whether you are able to give or not, I’m so grateful a kid somewhere has you in their corner.
